Myanmar
Myanmar is a nation ravaged by civil war that has displaced millions and has created immense humanitarian needs now amplified by the recent earthquake. Millions are impacted by hunger, and the civil war has resulted in a crisis of orphans who have lost one of both parents. Rural areas have been affected the most, with frequent bombing destroying villages and displacing the people. But in every area, churches are growing spiritually with constant fasting and prayer.
Pastor Hung Ling is making a difference. Born an animist living in poverty, Pastor Ling’s parents died when he was two years old. He grew up as an orphan, unable to attend school until ten years old. God began to change everything when he received Christ as Savior at a Bible camp. He says, “Christ gave me a new mind, a new heart and a new vision for my life. I wanted to read the Bible but there was no Bible. I prayed many times for at least five years to have a Bible and later, one of the pastors gave me the book of John. It was a happy day for me because I received a Bible for the first time in my life.”
Pastor Ling graduated the university in Myamar and went to Bible school. He is now working on his post-graduate degree in ministry remotely through Asbury Seminary. He leads Go & Send Ministries. With this ministry, he pastors a church, directs a Bible School, mentors church planters, leads three orphanages, and directs humanitarian efforts in his region. He also leads Bible camps for children, like the one where he found Jesus many years ago.
We are thankful to be Partners in Ministry with Pastor Ling, assisting in humanitarian outreach, empowering leaders, and supporting projects for the orphans.
