History & Mission
When Dr. Tom and Lidia Grassano and their four-year-old daughter first came to New York City in 1994, they immediately began building relationships with people on the streets of the South Bronx. It took years of perseverance and faith through many challenges and heart aches, but as they consistently reached people with the gospel and empowered them toward their destinies, a solid base for urban outreach -- The Harvest Center -- was firmly established.
The mission of The Harvest Center continues to be the same:
- To reach people in the community through effective and relevant methods of evangelism and outreach.
- To raise up people to be leaders, active witnesses and intercessors in their community.
- To provide a base for people to come and be engaged in and be exposed to strategic outreach.
UHM combines Christ-centered evangelism with methods of empowerment that change worldviews, train leaders, and equip the church to empower the urban poor. The Harvest Center is an example of this ministry.
